UK Master’s Degree Programme in Education (Fully Funded)

The UK Master’s programme is a fully funded degree course aimed at providing an excellent opportunity to students looking to receive a master’s degree while gaining practical skills in an overseas teaching environment in China or for those students not able to go down the conventional route perhaps due to the cost of getting a master’s degree.

Entry requirements

All candidates need to:

  • Be a native English language speaker aged 19 or over
  • Have a total of 240 credits, 120 credits at Level 4 (or equivalent) and 120 credits at Level 5 in Early Years or a related subject
  • Hold GCSEs in English and Mathematics minimum C grade, or equivalent qualification (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above)
  • Work in an educational setting for the duration of the course
  • Have a successful Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (i.e. a police background check) and Occupational Health check. Note: the Enhanced DBS check will be undertaken as part of the application process.

Aims of the course

These are to:

  • Allow you to engage with current issues and debates relevant to Early Years
  • Increase your understanding of policy development
  • Develop your leadership knowledge and skills to assess the quality of Early Years practice
  • Provide an excellent opportunity for you to study and work with education institutions in China
  • Gain an insight into culturally diverse education practices

Structure

The structure of the course is as follows:

1st & 2nd Year

  • China BA (top-up) Course in Education Studies
  • Undertake a school placement in China organised by Zhengzhou Normal University

3rd Year

  • UK masters course in Early Years Education
  • No teaching placement is required

Certification

UK Master’s Degree Programme in Education (Fully Funded) 

You will receive 2 certificates as you complete each course.

After successfully completing your top-up degree in China, you will be awarded a ‘BA (Hons) in Early Years Education’ or BA (Hons) in Education’ by Zhengzhou Normal University.  To gain this qualification, you must achieve a total of 240 credits.

Upon successful completion of your master’s degree in the UK, you will be awarded a ‘Master in Early Years’ by the appropriate UK university.  To gain this qualification, you must achieve a total of 180 credits.
